Obituary

Obituary for Crystal Michelle Petty (Petty)

Born on March 21st, 1980, Crystal Michelle Petty began her journey through life. Crystal was one of five children of Eugene and Jeannie Petty, younger sister Samantha, and three older brothers, Edgar Whatley, Lonnie Whatley Jr., and Johnathan Petty. As well as, three nieces and one nephew. Jasmine Petty, Harmony Petty, Destiny Nash, and Nicholas Nash who loved their aunt KiKi dearly. There are also countless friends who love her greatly.

Crystal started out her education at J. Wills Jones Elementary, where she participated in gymnastics, played the piano, and dance, ending at Memorial High School where she was in choir and expressed her love for music. From there, she went on to start at Houston Community College and ended at Ashford University, where she obtained her Associates of Applied Science and Bachelor’s in Psychology. From there, she quickly realized her love for teaching and pursued a teaching certificate. As you can see, Crystal was a very giving and kind person, who wanted to help the world one child at a time. On the morning of March 10th 2019, this beautiful Angel was taken home to God.

Crystal made a lasting impression on all of those she met thru her acts of kindness and generosity, her willingness to aid her family and friends. Her love for her sister Samantha was boundless as she helped care for her for a big part of her life. Crystal loved animals and loved her two dogs, Jax and Harley and always called them her “children.” This beautiful soul will be missed by her family, friends, and her beloved Jax and Harley.

“A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter better place.”

I met Crystal when she was in junior high. She was best friends with Roxanne. She was such a sweet girl and loved to joke a lot. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to her family.

My condolences go out to all of Crystal's family and friends. I met Crystal when I was in 7th grade and she was in 6th. A group of us hung out together before and after school. We were the "Get Along Gang". As happens unfortunately, we did not stay as close over the years but it was nice to see how she was doing through Facebook. Her unexpected move to return to her heavenly father is a reminder that we are never promised another day and to keep our loved ones, whether they be family or friends we consider family, close. Crystal, be at peace my beautiful "lil sis". Until the time we shall meet again.

Meagan Murray

Crystal was my best friend and my sister. She was one of the strongest most caring people I know. She would sacrifice anything for those she loved. She helped me raise my daughters and was there for me during some of the worst times of my life. She always knew how to make me laugh and I have so many good memories with her. I could not believe the news when I got the call it felt so unreal and there are no words to describe the heart break I felt at that moment and still do as I write this. She was taken from us way to soon but I find some comfort in the fact that she is with her daddy and brother in Heaven. Til I see you again my friend my love for you carries on. I know I will see you again one day and when I do I will have so much to tell you. Fly with the angles in peace my dear friend. You will be forever missed and there will always be a missing part of my life without you.
