Obituary

Obituary for Donna Delisa Ellis (Yeates)

Donna Ellis was born in Pasadena, Texas on March 1, 1965 and left this earth on April 10, 2019 with her sister, niece, and daughter by her side in Houston, Texas. She was a loving sister, aunt, and mother who enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family, and most importantly, worshipping The Lord.
Donna, or as her family called her “Dee”, had an eye for interior decorating. When you walked in her home, it was as if you were walking in a Better Homes and Garden ad. The same went for her landscaping skills. She had the greenest thumb known to man. She took pride in her flower beds and passed that love down to her sister and children. Many Saturdays were spent pruning, planting, and watering. Even her fur baby, Rollie, loved to stop and smell the roses!
You could often find Dee in the kitchen preparing meals made from scratch. Her passion was in cooking, and she poured all her heart into making everything just right. Every meal was always delicately thought out and specialized for whoever she was making it for. If she knew you were coming, she’d be sure to make your favorite dish! You always went back for seconds and never left hungry!
Dee loved her family with all her heart and made sure they knew it. She was a “night owl”, and the best memories with her were made well past anyone’s bedtime. Her sister was her best friend in the entire world. Dee often told stories of how she pretended her sister was her own baby when Lorri was born. She also worked hard to instill good morals in her daughter and son. One of the last things she ever said was how proud of the man her son had grown up to be. Her daughter was a night owl like her, and they spent many nights in deep conversation, watching TV, and making late night runs to Whataburger for a milkshake. Dee loved her niece and nephew as if they were her own and made every effort to be at their extra curricular activities. You could always hear her cheering on her nephew from the sidelines and see the pride in her eyes when her niece played at her piano recital or simply played the guitar for her via video chat. She viewed her brother-in-law as her real brother and took him under her wing, as she did with anyone she loved. While her grandson and granddaughter are still fairly young, she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with them. Dee’s family will make sure they grow up knowing how much she loved them.
Donna is survived by her sister, Lorri Morgan, her husband, Rick Morgan, and their children, Haley and Michael Morgan of Crosby, Texas, her son, Brian Ellis, his wife, Jennifer Ellis, and their children, Guy and Belle Ellis of Sour Lake, Texas, her daughter, Ashlee Goeddertz, and her husband, Michael Goeddertz of Orangefield, Texas. While the family’s hearts are missing her every single day, they also have peace knowing she is with the Lord, painlessly planting in her garden again.

Dee was more than a sister, she was my best friend, the one I'd call to laugh with, cry with, share my hopes and fears with, or just simply be on the phone with while saying nothing at all. We had this amazing relationship where we didn't need to say anything at times - just knowing we were there for one another was fulfillment. Dee was smart, creative, goofy, and she loved with every part of her being. Lord, I miss my sister every second! So much of who I am, who her children are, and who my children are is because of her. Thank you, Dee for giving us so much of you!
* In lieu of flowers, I ask that you honor Donna by first honoring our Lord - give Him your time. Second, make time TODAY for your friends and family. Hug them, laugh with them, forgive them.
"For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." James 4:14
