Obituary for Jerry Blackwell

Jerry Louis Blackwell, 87, of League City, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 30th, 2019. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on December 9, 1931, to Richard and Sybil Blackwell.
Jerry was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. During the war, Jerry was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Essex, attached to Skyraider Attack Squadron 55 as a Bombardier/Navigator.
He was a lifelong aviation enthusiast, obtaining his private pilot’s license and spending the next 33 years in the aviation industry with Trans Texas Airways, Texas International and Continental Airlines. He began his career as a licensed aviation machinist, and retired as a Senior Director of the company. Jerry was known to be a jack of all trades and viewed by many as a true craftsman. He was always proud of the cabin cruiser he built by hand in his garage.

Jerry met and married the love of his life, Annie Moore Williams, in 1958 and they remained married until her passing in 2016.

Jerry is survived by his children Gene Blackwell(Denise), Tom Blackwell and Ruth Blackwell(Shane); Grandchildren James Steven Blackwell, Arienne Mueller, Afton Blackwell, Ryan Blackwell, Erin Blackwell and Rylee Patrick; Great Grandchildren Jacob, Avery, Amena and Spencer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Moore Williams Blackwell, son Richard Blackwell and brother Monty Richard Blackwell.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, June 5th, at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster Texas.

A terrific neighbor we will surely miss. Loved chatting with Jerry and him talking about his career. Loved taking him my banana bread and trying out new cookies, he always happy to try. Prayers and thoughts are with you all. 🙏🤗
