Obituary

Obituary for Honavalli R. Srinivas

Honavalli R. Srinivas (“Shrini”), loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on September 17, 2019. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Arakalagudu, India to Honavalli S. Ramaswamy and Sundaramma Venkata Subbiah. He graduated from B.M.S. College of Engineering in Bangalore with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had a successful career working in the Oil & Gas industry.

Shrini was an avid sportsman who excelled in cricket, golf, tennis and bowling. He won numerous golf and tennis tournaments including the Shell Worldwide Golf Tournament in Oman in 1985. Shrini was gregarious and lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. He had an adventurous spirit and loved starting conversations and friendships with anyone he met. His beautiful, ever smiling face was the first thing that greeted you which left an indelible impression.

Shrini was a resident of Kingwood, Texas for over 30 years, and formed many lasting friendships in his community. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Asha; his daughters Veena and Vidya; his son Vivek; and his grandchildren Sydney and Aidan.

The family will hold a private memorial service to honor our beloved Shrini.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Shrini.

Srinivas uncle made his best efforts to live life to full extent, till the last moment, without thinking about any limitations – a very brave outlook towards life. I wish I could adopt.
Even if is a two mins conversation, he will enquire about everyone in my family. The same he will do with everyone in the neighborhood, while he walks around. In a world, where everyone is buried in their smartphones and not that keen on a face to face conversation, this is very rare. I wish we all could practice this.
Each of us, unique in our own way, I guess, no one can replaces the other.
We will definitely miss him and his innocent smile.
Heartfelt condolences and prayers to him and his family.

My husband and I remember Shrinivas as a very decent man. He definitely was Indian and yet he had a sense of humor that was American. Most of all, Shrinivas had a great courage and a very good heart. He is missed here. May God take good care of his soul.

We had the pleasure of meeting Srini and his wife, Asha, at the Kingwood Y seven years ago. It was obvious from his caring, winning smile, and outgoing personality that he was a model father and husband, liked people, and was used to associating with a broad spectrum-a true people’s person. Our deepest condolences to the family, and to Asha, one of our dearest and best loved friends.

It was my pleasure to play golf with Srini, Tuck and Tom Murdock at Kingwood CC. He was funny and always great to be around. Recently before his Hospice care, we had several meaningful conversations. He was a good man and he loved his family. Most of all, I will miss his smile and his laugh when he was telling a story and couldn’t think of the right word to use. Thanks Srini for being you.

I was fortunate to meet my good friend Srini in the ‘80s when he worked for Shell Oil...we became very good friends and fortunately both of us lived in Kingwood and belonged to Kingwood CC....played so much wonderful golf with Srini through the years and enjoyed numerous trips with him and the guys. Srini was a first class person and was like a brother to me. He loved his family so much and always expressed and said that they were his life. He also accepted those close to him as part of his family and that is why I and all his special golfing brothers loved him so much! Rest In Peace my friend and God Bless. Tuck Murray
