Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Stephen, Shelly, and Paul; granddaughter, Connie; sister, Kathy, and niece, Katie. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Harold; son-in-law, Matt; and daughter-in-law, Mandy. She is preceeded in death by her mother and father and infant older bother, James David.

Carolyn devoted her life to elementary education, retiring from Durham Elementary where she was known as a calm and loving teacher. Haydee Marie Waters

My prayers and condolences to Ray and all of Carolyn’s family. She was a very dear friend from many, many years ago. We met in the fall of 1957 when we were both freshman at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. We became roommates, second semester of our freshman year and were close friends from then on. Many weekends she would go home with me to Galveston or I would go with her to Dayton. Carolyn never missed sending me a birthday card. Even when she could no longer send it, she had Ray send it for her, which amazed me and I will always appreciate. My prayers and thoughts remain with her and her family. Haydee Waters, New Roads, LA
