Mary Louise Hill
July 6, 1922 – February 25, 2023
Mary Louise Hill (100) of Houston, Texas was united with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Effie Alice Christy, her siblings Martha Maxwell, Shirley Christy, and James Christy, and her husband Charles W. Hill. Mary is survived by her four daughters Carol Hill, Nancy Cooper, Linda (and Gene) Yates (and Linda’s children Michael and Michelle), and Mary Jane (and Bill) Frazier (and Jane’s children Brady and Ross). She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, nine great-grandchildren, great-nieces-and-nephews, other family of her heart and loving neighbors.
Mary was born in Ohio and where she met and married her husband, Mr. Charles Hill. Like most women of her generation, she was a World War II bride that did her part keeping the country running while her husband was stationed overseas. After WWII ended, she resided with her family in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Along with her husband and children, she relocated to Florida and then relocated a final time to call Houston, Texas home for almost 70 years.
Mary cared for her children and then worked in retail at the historical downtown Foley’s department store and later Dugan’s Drugstore, and then worked in appliance sales at White’s Furniture Store. In the early 1970’s, she retired and provided loving after-school care for her grandchildren who affectionately call her Mema. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who bestowed love by cooking and caring for her family, friends, and neighbors. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
