Shirley Enderle

November 1, 1918 — March 19, 2018

Shirley Bourgeois Enderle died peacefully on March 19, 2018 in Richmond, Texas. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Estelle and Charles Bourgeois. After graduating from Brackenridge High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Buford Enderle. They were married for 74 years and lovingly reared two daughters. They joined St. Paul's Methodist Church and became members of the Baines Sunday School Class where they made many life-long friends. At the time of her death, she was the church's oldest living member. Shirley's passion was her home and family. The loving, caring atmosphere of their home created rich and treasured memories. This creativity was especially evident in her cooking, hostessing, and gracious hospitality. Shirley was the ultimate homemaker. Devoted to her daughters, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she nurtured, encouraged and guided them. She was known for her welcoming smile, her genuine laughter, her Baked Alaska, and cheering for the University of Texas from which both girls graduated. Always an example of faithfulness, selflessness and love Shirley enriched the lives of those she knew and met. Everyone was blessed by her thoughtfulness and generosity. The family would like to thank St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Fairmont Hospice, the staff at Clayton Oaks, and all those who visited her, called her on the phone, or sent her cards and notes. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Buford, and their infant son, Thomas Charles. To cherish her memory, Shirley is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christie Lord (Ron) of Sugar Land, Beverly Holcomb (Kevin) of Austin, grandchildren Hillary Lord Rogers (Bill), Keith Lord (Deborah) of Sugar Land, Ryan Holcomb (Carrie), Brandon Holcomb (Michelle), Blake Holcomb (Rachel), of Houston, and Christopher Holcomb of Austin. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren: Emily and Blake Rogers; Caroline and Christopher Lord; Scott, Ashley and Boyd Holcomb; Davis, Hayes and Grayson Holcomb.
