Alfred George Raschke was born May 27, 1920 in West Point, Texas, the son of August and Milda Raschke. He graduated from La Grange High School and began working in Galveston, Texas. Al was a member of the U.S, Army Air Corps during World War II, serving 37 1/2 months in Hawaii in the finance division, preparing the payroll for both civilian and service personnel. Upon discharge, he began working for the Houston Cotton Mills in the bookkeeping department. In 1949, he married Bettye Jeanne Neumeyer, and in 1950, he began working at Neumeyer Motor Parts as office manager and accounts payable clerk. In 1960, he became CEO, retiring from that position in 1982 continuing to work until 1992 when the company was sold. Al was an active member of the Lutheran Church his entire life. Al is survived by his wife of 65 1/2 years, Bettye, a sister, Louise Coleman of Corpus Christi, sons: Paul (Beverly), Alan (Lois), Mark (Elizabeth) of Cedar Park, Eric (Janet) and daughter Karen (Peter) Yoder. Grandchildren: Meredith (Ryan) Filip of Orlando, Christopher (Brittany), Aaron (Shannon) of Norwalk, Iowa, Lauren, Megan (Jaime) Rios, Nathaniel and Philip. Great grandchildren: Cason, Addison, Maisy, Payton, Haven and Kate. A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7901 Westview, Houston 77055 on May 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
