Barbara Faye Krohn was born on February 25, 1937, to Helen Margaret Vaughn Krohn and Otto Emil Krohn. She was the youngest of three children. She has two older siblings, Mary Kathryn Krohn [Petty] is the oldest. Harry Neil Krohn is the middle child. Barbara grew up in the Houston Heights. She attended Reagan High School and graduated as salutatorian in her class in 1955. She also attended Hamilton Junior High School and Cooley Elementary. Barbara married Raymond Manger on April 14, 1958. They had four beautiful children together: Rayna Lynn Manger Tedford, Stacie Kay Manger, Jennifer Kathelen Manger Hunt, and Charles Raymond Manger. Barbara and Ray divorced in 1978, but remained on good terms. Barbara worked for Shell Oil Company as an executive secretary for many years. She also worked for Getty Oil Company and Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority. Barbara enjoyed fishing and crabbing and would often take her children and grandchildren on small excursions (whether it be Galveston, Rockport, Port Aransas, or Lake Livingston). She was very creative and enjoyed working with her hands. She liked to make mosaics, paint, and loved to crochet. Her grandchildren all have blankets she crocheted for them. Barbara also dabbled in writing as a hobby. She had several children's stories she wrote over the years. Barbara was also a big fan of Elvis Presley. In fact, one of the trips she took with two of her children and grandchildren was a trip to Graceland. That was a memorable trip for everyone. Barbara would also take her children to the Houston Astros games when they played in the Astrodome. Watching the game was a big influence on Charles (Chuck) as he went on to play baseball for several years in school. Although Barbara had many passions, her biggest passion was her children and grandchildren. Ask anyone that has ever met her. I'm sure they can all say they've heard many stories about the kids and grandkids and have probably seen many pictures of them. They could probably name each of the children and each of the grandchildren and who they belonged to. That is how much she loved her kids. Her favorite color was red, the color of a loving heart, and hers was very big. Barbara is survived by her brother Harry Krohn, her children Rayna, Stacie, Jennifer and Charles, and her grandchildren, Deanna Elise Greif, James Paul Motsinger, Ethan Charles Hunt, Jacob Matthew Manger, Abigail Elizabeth Hunt, and Sarah Elizabeth Manger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Helen Krohn, her sister, Kathryn Petty, her nephew Steve Petty, and many cousins, especially Suzie Weymer, to whom she was very close. She was also preceded in death by two of her very favorite celebrities, Elvis Presley and Charton Heston. Surely she is getting to meet them both in person in Heaven. Barbara had an infectious laugh and an infectious smile. She never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed. She will leave a hole in the lives of everyone she knew.
