Barbara Turpin

Barbara Bailey Turpin, widow of her beloved husband Thomas Turpin, Jr., passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

Barbara was born in Claude, Texas in 1933 to parents Joseph Luther Bailey and Pauline Townsend Bailey.  She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her son Stanley Joe Turpin.  She is survived by her sister Debby Bailey O’Neal and her husband Mike O’Neal; brother Dennis Bailey; son Thomas Turpin III; daughter Susan Hutchison and her husband David Hutchison; grandchildren, Marjorie Turpin Nolan and her husband Tom Nolan, Aaren Turpin, Bailey Hutchison, Thomas Turpin IV and his wife Kelley Turpin, Emily Turpin; and great grandchildren, Winnie Nolan, Judge Turpin and Henry Turpin.

Barbara and her parents moved from Claude to Amarillo in the 1940’s. She and Tom Turpin were married in 1954. They lived in Amarillo where they started their family and made life-long friends. They moved to Houston in 1979 and eventually all three of their adult children followed them to Houston to make their homes. Barbara retired as HR Manager from Cullen Center in 1996 and then enjoyed many years of travel and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Barbara was known to all for her endless smiles, constant laughter, and the love she had for her family and friends.  She had a generous heart and kindness that had no barriers.  She will be missed by all.
