Sketch of Her Life Betty was born on October 4, 1934 in LeCompte, Louisiana to Richard and Thelma Lewis Bowman. She graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in 1951. She attended Southern University and A&M. After receiving her nursing degree, she moved to Houston to pursue her career as a Registered Nurse with Jefferson Davis Hospital and after several years she transferred to Saint Joseph Hospital where she retired. Our beloved mother and friend, Betty Jean Roach, left this world Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:14 a.m. after a brief struggle with liver cancer. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: her children; Michael, Margaret, David, Gwen and Willie Charles; her grandchildren, Thelma Marie, Keyshia Renee, Michael Jr., Desmon and Dar'eyon, Ashley and Bree; her only great grandchild: Joshua; and her only living sister, Mary Emily Marshland and her children Deirdre and Daryl and a host of other relatives and friends She is preceded in death by her husband Willie Hester Roach and her two sisters, Roberta Batchelor, Hazel Ann Parson and her parents There will be a private memorial service for the immediate family on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Integrity Funeral Home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations to American Cancer Society
