Billie Jo Youngblood, aka "The Cat Lady", was born Billie Jo Baker November 18, 1935 in Hope, Arkansas. Her parents were Charles and Cora Baker, and now deceased siblings: Edna Wilson, Mildred Edwards, Bernice Bowden, Charles Baker II, Jay Baker and Ervin Baker. Billie graduated from Hope High School in 1954 then moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston where she met and married Glen Dayle Carter (deceased), and bore two surviving children, Sandra Gayle Carter and Autumn Carter Kehoe and granddaughters Ella, Carly, and Avian Kehoe. Billie began working in the air conditioning field at Schaffer Mechanical then Atlas Air Conditioning where she remained for 49 years. She eventually married Ray Youngblood, deceased, who built her dream dome home on 5-acres located between Tomball and Magnolia, Texas. At that home, Billie found herself with 8 cats at one point--she loved everything cats. Billie moved from Atlas to Masram Mechanical, from which she retired due to Alzheimer's. After a time at home, Billie then resided at Autumn Grove Cottage Champions for almost 3 years. She died there on October 13, 2016 at 4:10 pm and is being cremated per her wishes by Integrity Funeral Care in Houston where online tributes may be posted. A farewell party for friends and family will be held at Pappasito's on 1960 at Willowbrook Mall (7050 FM 1960 Road West) in Houston on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 1:30 to 5 pm.
