Cassandra Pegues answered the heavenly role call on August 31, 2023. She was born November 14, 1971 to the loving arms of the late Rev. Jimmy L. Washington and Jetty P. Washington. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Second Baptist Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Upper Prairie Creek church in Woodland, MS and was a member of Higher Dimension Church in Houston, TX at the time of her passing.
She attended Houston High School and later graduated from Western Governors University. Motivated by her love of music she was a co-founder of the gospel mass choir, S.W.A.P (Singing With A Purpose) in Houston, MS. As a playwright, she wrote, produced and recorded the stage plays, “A Dime A Dozen” and “Another Dime A Dozen”.
On April 24, 2014 she joined in holy matrimony to her lover and friend, Christopher Pegues. To their union she was blessed with a daughter, Matressa Nicole Pegues. She also had two special godchildren, Alreakaye Kiaris Belk and Precious Crawford.
Left to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Christopher Pegues, daughter, Nicole Pegues, grandson, Amir McCleon, two sisters, Glenda (Wille) Dixon, Shelia (Paul)Young, one brother, Shimmy Blaine Washington. Her in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Jetty Washington, sister Brenda Young and son La’Johntae Ivy.
