Chrystal Lynn Porter - Chrystal Porter, 52, of Houston, Texas passed from this life on July 4, 2015. Chrystal was a natural beauty who possessed the true soul of an artist. Although she was born with a genetic condition which caused her to be legally blind; throughout her life she was able to express herself through art and she endlessly created beauty for the world around her. In life, she was much more concerned with creating a heartfelt connection with someone around her or caring for an animal in need, than she was with being punctual or keeping an immaculate home. Chrystal had a loving heart and a mother's touch. In addition to caring for her two children and granddaughter, she had a love for all living creatures and a special place in her heart for stray cats, adopting many that came across her path over the years. Chrystal was born in San Antonio on July 14, 1962 to the late Grace Estelle Banspach and Evanda Ray Hammonds. Her mom Grace married Steve Porter in 1969, and shortly thereafter Chrystal officially joined the Porter family. The Porters moved around the world to places like Korea and Germany, and Chrystal soon developed an unbridled sense of adventure. As an adult, Chrystal embarked on her own adventures, channeling her artistic talent and unlimited imagination into the study of art and fashion. She formally studied art in Houston, New York City, and Paris; and in 1990 she graduated from The New School-Parsons Paris School of Art & Design in France. Throughout her career she focused on creating art that was aesthetically pleasing to both the touch and to the eye. Love came naturally to Chrystal, and the true love of her life was Jose Louis Claudio who is the father of their two children, Rachel and Christopher. When Lou recalls his first encounter with Chrystal's beauty and vibrant energy, he described himself as being utterly dazzled and he likened her to a glowing vision. Whenever Chrystal talked about their first meeting, she always smiled as she remembered both the love and deep heart connection she instantaneously felt with Lou. Chrystal will be remembered for her creativity, artistic talent, free-spirit, and for the love she shared with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and both her maternal and her paternal grandparents. She is survived by her friend and ex-husband, Jose Louis Claudio, their beloved children Rachel and Christopher Claudio, and their precious granddaughter Marilyn Claudio all of Huffman, Texas; her father Steve Porter of San Antonio, Texas; her sister Stephanie Lau and her treasured niece Grace Lau, of Boerne, Texas; maternal Aunt Sally Banspach Lawhon, of Stantonville, Tennessee; paternal Uncle Stuart Porter, of Sugarland, Texas and numerous cousins and friends.
