David Boswell

October 24, 1971 — December 4, 2016

David Andrew Boswell October 24, 1971 - December 4, 2016 David Andrew Boswell, 45, of Chiang Mai, Thailand, born October 24, 1971, in Jackson, MS, died at 1:40 p.m. December 4, 2016 at Houston Hospice at Texas Medical Center. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Houston Chapel. David was a deeply loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend in whom we all feel a tremendous loss and yet powerful purpose- filled joy in our hearts as recipients of his love. David is the first of his parent's seven children to trail blaze the journey to Heaven to be with Jesus. In his 22 month battle with cancer, he taught us that we can only stand before God's throne dressed in Christ's righteousness not in our own. Even though he was only 45 years old, he'd remind us "we are all dying, its just a matter of when." As his mother tearfully says "One child Home safe (Heaven), six to go." He is survived by his beautiful loving wife Sumitra and their adorable 5 year old daughter, Jasmine who was the light of his world. He deeply loved them both and longed for more time with them, but trusted God's provision for them and purposes through the pain. He selflessly spent his energy making sure they were taken care of and writing letters and creating videos for them to watch and read throughout the milestones of their lives. In life, David was an adventurous explorer, trail blazer, traveler, researcher and entrepreneur. He was fun-loving, hard-working and lived life to the fullest. He grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he loved the beach, fishing, surfing and skim boarding. After graduating from Westminster Academy, he entered the University of South Alabama. While in Mobile he served in Campus Outreach and was a youth director at Christ Presbyterian Church. After graduation, he moved to Aspen, Colorado, where he lived and worked during the seasons for many years. He was a restaurant manager for the Village Steak House in Snowmass Village, worked at Main Street Bakery in Aspen, the Silvertree Hotel Bar Grill and did breathtaking landscaping for the Town of Snowmass. For years, he would spend his off-seasons traveling to Thailand, a country whose exotic land and vibrant culture fascinated him. While in Thailand, he met and fell in love with his endearing wife, Sumitra. David's family attended their gorgeous wedding in the Thailand home David built for Sumitra's family. Through the years, they continued to travel and live between the two countries. Their daughter, Jasmine was born in Thailand. David's expertise in the restaurant industry as well as his excellent management ability made him the inspiration and brains behind his Thai-family owned cafe and bakery in Thailand. Their successful Bagel House Cafe in Chiang Mai was a local favorite. David is survived by Sumitra Arjhan Boswell, his wife of 10 years and Jasmine, their 5 year old daughter. He is also survived by: Parents: Dr. Andrew Boswell and Mrs. Dena S. Boswell Brother: Jonathan Boswell Sisters: Ruth (Dan) Brown Sarah (Mike) Prewitt Esther (Kevin) Kirn Hannah (Blair) Bryant Deborah (Steve) Kaminsky He is survived as well by 18 nieces and nephews who adored their uncle. He is also survived by his loving grandmother, Marian Boswell, uncles, aunts and cousins who he loved. We love you always and forever... until our next family reunion... "Today you will be with me in Paradise" Memorials: The family requests that flowers be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Houston for the service Saturday morning or memorials sent to First Presbyterian Church of Houston designated for the FPC Apartment Ministry.
