Deanna was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 29, 1957 to Donna (Edge) and Edward "Hambone" Butler. She was called home April 24, 2018 in Houston, Texas surrounded by family. Deanna and family moved to Texas in 1970. She graduated with a diploma from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas. She retired from Houston ISD after 20+ years of service with the school district. Deanna continued working after retirement for a ship classification company, while attending Houston Community College part-time. She earned a legal certificate and was planning on transferring to University of Houston to earn her bachelor's degree in Communications. Many of the activities she enjoyed are grilling, playing bingo, powwowing, listening to classic rock and spending time with family. Survivors include her brothers, John Butler, Humble, Texas, Quintin and David Butler, Houston, Texas and Brent Butler, Austin, Texas. Daughters, Angela Bangstein and Erica Bates, Houston, TX. One granddaughter, Yunnin, and another granddaughter on the way. Nephews, Dewayne Abbey, David Butler Jr., Michael Butler and Brent Butler; Nieces, Joanne Butler and Julianne Butler. Sister-in-laws: Vickie Butler, Donna Butler and Kathy Butler. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Donna Butler and brother Ronald Butler. Memorial services for Deanna Lynne Butler Bates will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Sac & Fox Community Center, Stroud, Oklahoma. Burial service will be held at the Sac & Fox tribal cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma after the memorial service. Meal will be served at Sac & Fox Community Center after the burial service.
