Doris was born in Calmer, Arkansas to Edna Smith Ryburn and Charles Sydney Ryburn on August 29, 1921, the sixth of seven children. Later she watched her husband build the substructure to the 8th Wonder of the World (the Astrodome), Neil Armstrong step on the moon, the change of the century past Y2K, and saw today's world where technological advances are a matter of course. Doris survived the deaths of many loved ones including each of her six siblings, her mother at age 97, her father at age 102, her second child, Linda, at age 2 1/2 and her beloved husband of 61 years, Clyde Estes, who died at age 82 in 2002.
