Dwight Ford, Sr.

September 20, 1943 — July 23, 2021

Dwight McMahan Ford Sr, a compassionate, and Godly husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called up to be with the Lord suddenly on Friday, July 23rd, 2021, a victim of a tragic auto accident near Austin, TX.

Dwight was born in Mexico City in 1943 to Stanley and Elizabeth Ford, who met and married as Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in Yolox, Oaxaca, Mexico, where Dwight spent his first few years. He grew up in Houston, TX, and attended John H Reagan High School and the University of Houston.

Dwight was a proud US Army Veteran. He served as deacon over 20 years and Sunday School group leader at Garden Oaks Baptist Church, and as a substitute teacher in the public schools. Serving Christ through the church was very important to him. Dwight thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved telling stories about their adventures and playing “42” dominos and any other game offered. He supported and encouraged others with his Christian and conservative political views and wisdom.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 53 years Jeannie Ford; son Dwight Ford Jr; daughter-in-law Tracey Ford; four grandchildren Caleb, Kendall, Cameron, and Collin; and four younger sisters Nancy Winiecki, Edith Korzan, Carolyn Winiecki, and Agnes Kinra. Dwight is greatly missed.
