Edward Lee Secrest, age 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away at his home on June 1, 2021. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 29, 1940, the son of the late Dorce Secrest and Virginia Phillips. He was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Secrest and sister, Maryanne Paschen. He married Beverly Berg on December 28, 1968. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, his sons, Erik Secrest (Amber) of The Woodlands, TX (grandchildren Nicklaus and Anthony Brawner) and Brent Secrest (Cristina) of Houston, TX (grandchildren Jack and Sloane Secrest) and grandchildren of Kirk, Aaron Secrest (Lauren) of Barrington, IL, Dianna Edwards (Jerome) of North Liberty, IA, and Emily Duff (Jim) of Des Moines, IA and great grandchildren Max and Sam Secrest and Jarin and Jordanna Edwards. Also surviving are his sister, Cathy DoBucki of Charleston, SC and brother, Andrew Secrest of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Ed graduated from West High in Waterloo, IA and attended Iowa State University. He was a Mechanical Engineer and worked as a consultant to many engineering companies in the U.S. and abroad.
He served on the board of the Cy-Fair Sports Association and was involved with coaching his sons’ youth sports teams.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 4th at Champion Forest Baptist Church at 11:00 AM.
