Edward Wachs

August 30, 1943 — October 22, 1943

The Wachs Family regrets to announce the passing of Ed Wachs. We will miss his dry puns, unceasing curiosity, and indomitable spirit. Ed started his career as a Radioman in the US Army based at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania. After an honorable discharge he immediately got his technicians license and became a Broadcast Engineer with CBS in New York City working with such shows as the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and Captain Kangaroo. His main responsibilities included running the electronics that kept the shows on air. Though he also had to change out the aircraft warning light bulbs on the spike at the top of the Empire State building. He pursued a variety of careers afterwards, mostly technical, including programming for IBM and designing interactive safety and onboarding training programs. He was always exploring and trying new things: riding his motorcycle, skydiving, dancing, piloting small aircraft, and renovating his house. Ed loved travelling and took every opportunity to see new places including Argentina, Russia, France, Spain, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. He is survived by his two sons, Trevor and Brian, as well as his siblings; Bernadette, Clare, Frances, Joe, Laurence, Marcia, and Tom.

Ed was not a simple man by any means but he preferred to live simply and wanted his end to be the same. He asked that we forgo the ceremony and spread his ashes in a park. There will be a small family gathering on Dec 10 in Pennsylvania to honor his wishes.
