Elizabeth Thompson Pixley, age 69, passed away on February 6, 2021 in Houston, TX, surrounded by loved ones.
Those left to celebrate her life are her youngest sister, Betty Mae, and her five biological children --Angela, Nandi, Rejenia, Tammica and Richard — and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids, great grandkids, adopted children, friends and church family.
Elizabeth was born in Edgefield, SC to Ella Mae McManus and James Thompson on October 14th, 1951. She was born again, as a true disciple of Christ, in Charlotte, NC in March of 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three of her siblings — her sisters, Catherine and Mary, and her brother, Willie. She married Richard “Hat” Pixley, who also preceded her in death.
Elizabeth spent much of her life in South Carolina, but moved to Charlotte, NC in the summer of 2001. In 2012, she moved to Houston, TX where she lived for a few years and would eventually find her eternal rest. She was an active member of The Greater Houston Church while living in Houston.
She spent much of her time over the years pursuing various certifications and degrees, including Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Administrative Assistant. She loved education and she never stopped learning. In addition to loving her family and pursuing education, she spent lots of time serving and giving to others in the community around her. She volunteered with many organizations over the years, such as The American Red Cross and HOPE worldwide. She worked in various roles and industries over the years, but her favorite was assisting those who could no longer care for themselves on their own. In November of 2020, she retired as a Caregiver for a home healthcare company in Charlotte.
Without a doubt, there is one thing that was the most important thing in Elizabeth's life -- her great love and commitment to God and her church family. She was baptized and truly devoted her heart and her life to Jesus Christ in March of 2006. She was baptized and became an active member of The Charlotte Church in Charlotte, NC. She loved to spend time listening to spiritual lessons, praying, singing songs of worship and studying the Bible with those seeking to know the truth about salvation and eternal life. Elizabeth truly found rest, purpose and peace in the arms of Christ, and sought to help others to do the same until her very last days.
Some of her favorite things to do were being a grandmother, studying the Bible, going to the beach, collecting interesting and beautiful things, singing, knitting and spending time with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Elizabeth's name to any of the following organizations:
