Emily Liao

Emily Mei-Ching Liao passed away October 23, 2019 at her daughter's home in Cypress, TX. She was 75 years old. The graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday Nov. 2, 2019 at the College Station Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband Edward; three children, Andrew, Julia, and Michael; and 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Mariah, Nicholas, Noah, Joseph, Audrey, Katelyn, and Ethan.

Emily was born to Suen-Lai Chang and Bu Chen on June 20, 1944 in Taichung, Taiwan. She married Edward Chin-Chuan Liao in July of 1969. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Once in the United States, she lived in Laie, Hawaii and Provo/Orem Utah before moving to Arlington, TX where she spent most of her life.

Emily loved to cook and she loved to watch Chinese drama series. She also loved shopping and could always find the best deals. She enjoyed taking walks with her husband and also traveling. She visited Taiwan a few times as well as Belize and Indonesia. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a pure, kind, and generous heart. She was always kind to those around her. Gifts were her love language.

The last two and a half years of her life were challenging and difficult, especially towards the end. She had suffered a major stroke and had 3 brain surgeries following a bad fall. Her quality of life deteriorated with each surgery but she never complained. She fought a valiant fight. In the end she told her family that she was going home first. Emily was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having been baptized in July 1969. She loved the Church and she endured faithfully until the end. She took comfort in the knowledge that families are forever and we look forward to a joyful reunion with her some day.
