Enrique Gomez

Enrique “Ricky” Luis Gomez passed away peacefully in the home of his caretaker the afternoon of Saturday February 12, 2022.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving niece & guardian, Alicia LaBarrie; his sweet great-niece Gabriella Amanda Marina LaBarrie; his family in Trinidad & Tobago and Houston.  He was preceded in the transition to Heaven by his parents, Luis C. Gomez & Amanda Marchan Gomez; his sister, Marina Gomez LaBarrie; his brothers, Luis A. Gomez & Emilio Gomez.

Ricky’s journey of 72 years began in Caracas, Venezuela on 11/25/1949.  He was raised in Trinidad & Tobago.  He lived with his parents until their passing.  His loving sister, Marina brought him to Houston, Texas to care for him.  Ricky was a loving Christian, who enjoyed worshiping the Lord.  He was a faithful servant.  Ricky loved listening and dancing to calypso & steel band music, Trinidad carnivals, & playing his guitar.  The food and culture of Trinidad always put a smile on his face.  Ricky was loved and cared for throughout his life by his parents, his sister Marina Gomez LaBarrie, his brother Luis A. Gomez, his brother in law, Jerry LaBarrie and then his niece & guardian Alicia LaBarrie.  Although, the past 2 years of life, Ricky struggled with his health, his spirit persevered and his care was supported by Carol King, who we are very much grateful to for her loving care.  We are also immensely grateful for all the support & love from Joseph Pacheco.

He loved all of us & was everyone’s caregiver / helper until his health deteriorated.  We’re taking comfort in knowing he’s with God & all his loved ones who went before him. Embraced in their loving arms.  He’s strong again, dancing, singing, playing his guitar & laughing eternally with joy.
