(Gertrude) Laverne Knopp, born January 24, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Cypress, Texas. Mrs. Knopp retired from the Lutheran Homes Society where she worked as an LPN for 30+ years, in Toledo, Ohio. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio, during a private ceremony this summer. She is survived by children, Bruce Knopp and wife, Clarice, Jeff Knopp and wife, Jenny; Grandchildren, Lisa Shoemaker and husband, Dan, Jenna Patterson and husband, Aaron, Joshua Knopp, and Kevin Knopp; Great-Grandchildren: Jonathan Shoemaker, Caitlyn Cain, Phillip Shoemaker, Arista Patterson, Sydney Shoemaker, Avery McCowen, Harper Patterson, and Great-Great-Grandchild, Roxanna Gonzales; Siblings, Lois Brown, Shirley Lanthier and husband, Butch, Sally Moore, and Chuck Murray, many nieces and nephews as well as Ellie and Dennis O'Connor. She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Victor H. Knopp, her parents, Archie Laberdee and Violet Murray, and sister, Virginia Murray. Laverne was a strong, independent woman who was loved by everyone she met. No person was a stranger and baby smiles made her day. She was an avid reader and loved to make all kinds of crafts. She enjoyed time spent with her family, both near and far. She enjoyed traveling, reaching her goal to hit all 50 states. She will be remembered fondly, always.
