HARVEY MICHIO ONISHI died peacefully at Houston Hospice on December 4, 2015. Born May 16th, 1941, Harvey now joins the loved ones that preceded him - his beloved wife of 40 years Audrey Gwendolyn Leiola Lum Ho Onishi, parents Fumiko Tanamachi Onishi and Holly Onishi, Sr., and brother Carl. He is survived by son Eric; daughter and son-in-law Allison Onishi & Joe Lang; grandsons Jesse & Brady Lang; brother & sister-in-law Holly Onishi, Jr. & Donna Chow; brother Richard & his family; sister-in-law & brother-in-law KuuLei Chang & Roger Schuler. Harvey was born and raised in Houston, graduated from San Jacinto H.S., and attended the University of Hawaii where he met his wife, Leiola, who spread Aloha Spirit into his life, home, and family. He was a devoted father to his two children and a loving grandfather to his twin grandsons. His undeniable work ethic helped him manage his family's business, Holly Produce Company, throughout much of his life. He was a long-time member of the Japanese American Citizens League, and a founding member of the local Hawaiian Aikane Club. Harvey was thoughtful and quiet by nature, with a generosity and kindness that touched the hearts of many. His indomitable strength of body, mind, and spirit will be remembered by all that he loved and all who loved him. A memorial service is being planned by his family.
