Ina Ross Mitchell, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on December 1, 2013, surrounded by her three daughters. Ina was born in Matador, TX, on August 17, 1931, to Luther & Era Campbell. She grew up in Waco, TX, and graduated from Waco Technical High. She attended business school in Waco & was a secretary at an accounting firm in Houston for over 30 years. On September 14, 1950, Ina married Garlan "Mitch" Mitchell and together they had three daughters. They made their home in Waco, Houston, and, after retirement, on their farm in Abbott, TX. After Mitch's death in 2004, Ina moved to Sugar Land, TX, to be near her family. Ina loved God, her family and friends, her church, especially her ladies class at First Colony Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling and often said if anyone asked if she wanted to go, the answer was "Yes." She was a people person with a great sense of humor, and she loved to socialize. Ina is preceded in death by Mitch, her beloved husband of 53 years, her parents, Luther and Era Campbell,in-laws, Bryan & Bessie Mitchell, brothers, Charles and Billy Joe Campbell, and sister, Gloria Louise Harris. Survivors include three daughters, Laura Smith and husband Steve of San Augustine, Karen Casares and husband Robert of Missouri City, and Shari Nelson and husband Rick of Houston, and seven grandchildren: Sara, Kara, & Andy Rabon, Kelly and Casey Casares, Kristina and Cory Nelson. Waco funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6th, 12 Noon, at Waco Memorial Park in the chapel, with visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Colony Church of Christ in Sugar Land, TX, on Saturday, December 7th at 11 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunny Glen Children's Home in Harlingen, TX.
