Buddy Lewis (Irvin Earle Lewis, Jr.) passed away after a long battle with cancer. He handled it all with grace and humor. Buddy is survived by his son Benjamin Lewis, Ben's wonderful husband William Rice Lewis, daughter Heidi Bruder, granddaughter Sarah Bruder, sister Christina Lewis, his great friend Terry Leech and a host of friends and loved ones. He was predeceased by his loving parents Irvin E. Lewis, Sr. and Jean P. Lewis, his sister Linda Lewis White and his former wife Mary Pat Wead. Buddy was passionate, intelligent, fun, creative and a get it done kind of guy. He graduated from University of Miami, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He loved nature and the outdoors. Buddy was a long time resident of the Heights and a true Houstonian. He left behind a legacy of beauty in his work with Decorative Arts. An athlete to the end, Buddy cherished his days skating in Memorial Park and with the Houston Skate Force. The highlight of his year was skating security with the Skate Force at the Houston Art Car Parade. We thank the Skate Force and his friends at Decorative Arts for sticking with him and making sure he knew he was loved in his final months and days. Buddy was an artist, musician and lover of all that is good in this World. He lived the 12 steps with humility and peace. We celebrate his memory and his full life. Skate on.
