James Pickens Adams II 9 JULY 1955 - 20 JANUARY 2016 CAPTAIN JAMES PICKENS ADAMS II, USN, of Jacksonville, FL died on 20 January 2016 after a long battle with cancer, fighting with the same stubborn tenacity with which he lived his life. Born 9 July 1955 in Asheville, NC to the late James W Adams, and Bella Adams of Florida. A graduate of Asheville Country Day School, Jim was a proud Eagle Scout with Order of the Arrow status. He went on to attend the US Naval Academy to graduate with honors from the Class of ‘77 28th company. As a hobby, Jim did extensive research on the family lineage, becoming a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and took great pleasure in connecting generations of family lineage together. Jim was a great leader and mentor, touching many with his words of wisdom, leaving all who dealt with him no doubt about where he stood. A loving husband, proud father, who valued his God, his Nation, and his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl Porter Adams, their two sons J. Michael Adams and Matthew Adams of Virginia, his sisters Kim Cort (Mike) of Georgia, and Alice Gaye Williams of S.
