James Bernard Bollinger, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the age of 79. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Plaeger Bollinger, and his parents, James Alvin Bollinger, and Julia Sue Blanchard Bollinger. He is survived by his daughters, Amber Bollinger Shushan (Benjamin) and Rachel Bollinger Roffall (Michael), of Houston, Texas, and by his sister, Patricia Bollinger Boitmann (Don), of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Sydney Marks Shushan, Spencer Bernard Shushan, Grace Elizabeth Roffall, Justin Carter Roffall, and Sadie Ann Roffall, along with his niece, Julie Boitmann Cahill, nephew, Mark Joseph Boitmann, and numerous cousins.

Jim was raised in New Orleans and initially settled in Chalmette before relocating to Prairieville after Hurricane Katrina. After graduating from Holy Cross High School, Jim earned a degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in New Orleans and became a CPA. He then worked in the accounting field at Pete Marwick, Middle South Utilities, Entergy Services, Inc., and the Orleans Levee District. Additionally, he shared his passion for the profession as a lecturer at Holy Cross College.

An enthusiastic sports fan and proud "girl dad," he sparked his daughters' love for sports as they cheered him on during Middle South employee softball games. Thereafter, he coached them in a variety of sports, while also being a Barbie Dream House assembler and patient listener of Abba tributes. As a devoted husband, Jim supported his wife’s love of animals, dancing, and novels – which he read aloud to her when she could no longer do so herself. As a grandfather, he loved supporting his five grandchildren. He even wore a “Proud Aggie Grandpa” shirt for those attending Texas A&M, despite being an avid LSU fan. During retirement, Jim especially enjoyed bowling and dinners with high school friends. He was also a fan of fantasy and science fiction, enjoying everything from Doctor Who and Star Wars to Game of Thrones and The Last Kingdom.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM, at Mater Dolorosa Church, 1230 S.
