JERALD ROY THAMES 6/23/1941 - 8/30/2016 Jerry "Boss" Thames passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the age of 75 after several years of battling cancer. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rachel, and by his daughters, Jessica LeVine and husband Beau, Jeni Gates and husband Tommy, and by his son, Colby Thames and wife Karen. Jerry also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Jersey, Jayce, Jasi, Tyler, Callie and Travis. His grandchildren call him "Boss", and they were the light of his life. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Sissie Gibbons, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a large contingent of friends. Jerry was very active in the world of horses. He served as the President of the Texas Horse Council and was involved with the Racking Horse Association. He founded the Horse Talk Magazine and Horse Talk Radio Show. Through the years he sponsored several youth sports teams, and he provided educational scholarships through The Memorial Connection. One of Jerry's best kept secrets was his involvement in the community during the Holiday Season. For the past 24 years, he appeared as Santa Claus at many functions and was the Santa Claus for the Cr&egraveme' de la Cr&egraveme' Day Care. He lived a very full life and created memories by gathering with family and friends telling "Boss" stories of his adventures while laughing and smiling largely as he reminisced. A celebration of his life will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church located at 12535 Perthshire Rd. Houston, TX 77024 on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. You may visit his Tribute page at Integrityfuneral.com. Per his request, Please DO NOT send flowers or plants.
