Jerry LaBarrie passed away peacefully in his home the morning of Saturday May 16, 2020. Jerry's journey of 75 years began in Trinidad moving to New York City in 1969 and to Houston, Texas in 1976. Jerry was a draftsman in structural design, an excellent cook, a lover of music from Calypso to Willie Nelson, and an active athlete competing in over 20 marathons.
Jerry was born in Belmont, Trinidad on October 23, 1944 to the late Eric LaBarrie and late Anissa Abraham.
Devoted and loving husband of 45 years to the late Marina Gomez LaBarrie. Loving father to Alicia Roxanne LaBarrie and the late Kristian Colin LaBarrie. Adoring grandfather to Gabriella Amanda Marina LaBarrie. Brother of Noel, Elissa, Judy, Mary, Veronica, Peter, Dominic, and the late Hollis, George, Joan, Monica, Joseph, Yvette, and Brendon. Brother-in-law of Emilio Gomez, Ricky Gomez, and the late Luis Gomez.
Jerry was an active athlete running in over 20 marathons. His biggest accomplishment as an athlete was running in the New York City Marathon. Jerry ran his last marathon in 2009 at the age of 64. Jerry continued to run and eventually walk the tracks at Memorial Park in Houston despite the physical challenges he battled with Huntington's Disease in his later years. Jerry was a lover of sports and passionate about the Houston Rockets and Astros never missing a game.
