October 15, 1935 — July 17, 2017

Jo Ann Reeves October 15, 1935-July 17, 2017 Jo Ann Williams was an only child born in Coleman, Texas. Later she lived in Elizabethton, Tennessee and attended East Tennessee State. Jo Ann was bright, graduating with PhD degrees in history and English. Her dissertation subject was "Psychic Phenomena of the 19th Century". Throughout her life she taught at local schools, colleges and technical schools. She was outstanding working in educational TV in St. Petersburg, Florida early in her career. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing historical fiction novels. She also liked studying and practicing psychic phenomena. She married Billy B. Reeves in the mid-1950s and moved frequently. Over the years she and Billy lived in Sarasota (FL), Springboro (OH), Columbia (MD), Charleston (SC), New Hill, Saxapahaw and Chapel Hill (NC) and The Woodlands and Houston (TX). From 1979-83 they lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil where they worked in an American school and learned Portuguese. Instead of having children, the loves of Jo Ann and Billy were the many dogs they had over the course of their lives. They preferred standard poodles and named them interesting names like Barron, Marque, Antoine, Saudade and Que Linda. The dogs were treated royally and brought much joy to their lives. Jo Ann and Billy cared for and helped many people in their lives. They were generous with their time, advice and wonderful gifts for any occasion. They were great at mentoring people (including some of their students) and helping them get a good start in life, in their careers and just about anything else that was needed. Jo Ann was a loyal friend who would always give of her resources to help others in need. Later in life, both Jo Ann and Billy got their real estate licenses and bought and sold homes in the Chapel Hill area. Billy died October 9, 2007 after they moved to Houston. After that, Jo Ann taught at a Technical college in the area until it suddenly closed in 2016. Recently, she had an illness last November and never fully recovered.
