Joe Garcia Sr was born to Carmen and Juan Garcia on May 30, 1928 in Houston Texas.
Joe attended Rusk and Brackenridge elementary schools then proceeded to John Marshall Intermediate and graduated from Jefferson Davis School in May, 1946. Before graduating, Joe in 1945 began a successful short-lived boxing career, which ended in 1950. In August 1950, Joe enlisted in the Navy for a four year tour and was honorably discharged In June 1954. Several years earlier, Joe had met Nemesia Rodriguez at a neighborhood dance. On January 11, 1953, they married. From this union seven children were born. In 1955, and for the next 10 years, Joe was employed by Ruberoid tile. In 1965, and for the next 29 years, Joe was employed by Mobay Chemical until he retired on October 16, 1994. The year was 1968 when Joe answered a knock on his door accepting a Bible Study for himself and his family. Joe recently stated that his coming to know and serve Jehovah was his greatest accomplishment.
Despite all his accomplishments Joe remained a humble person. He was a loving person, a family man who practiced putting the needs of his family and others before his own.
Joe peacefully departed this life on September 14, 2018 at the age of 90 years. He is preceded in death by wife: Nemesia Garcia, daughter: Gloria Garcia, 2 granddaughter's: Jennifer Garcia Teamer, Priscilla Guerra, 1 grandson: Phillip E. Thomas Jr. and brothers Alfred, Gilbert and Tom.
Joe is survived by his 2 sisters: Annie Esparza and Esperanza Alaniz and Brother Richard Garcia.
He leaves his sons and daughters in law to cherish his memories: Joey, George and Elizabeth, Larry, Steve and Margaret, Roger and Terry, Mark and Alice. In addition 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
