John Lutkus

March 15, 1949 — June 9, 2016

John Michael Lutkus, age 67, of Tomball, Texas, passed away Thursday evening, June 9, 2016 after a lengthy illness. John Michael Lutkus was a proud husband, father, grandfather, friend, American, and Sailor. He was born March 15, 1949, in Lincoln, ME to Carolyn Dewitt Prout and John Prout. Raised by his mother and step-father, Joseph Lutkus; who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 27 years, Linda C. Lutkus; daughters Sharalyn Giordano her husband Mark Giordano of Hermiston, Oregon and Lauren Lutkus of Tomball; sons John of The Woodlands; and Dale Cass (wife Jessica)of Houston; as well as four grand-daughters Jordan Giordano, Jessica Giordano, Josie Giordano, and Wednesday Cass and grandson Remy Richey; sisters Roseanne Arnault, Tampa, Florida; Jan Velli, Harmony, Maine; his Aunt Eileen and Uncle Goody Bradbury, and many other loving family and friends. Mr. Lutkus proudly served for over twelve years in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic and flight engineer and did several tours in Vietnam. He served on the Kennedy, Midway and other carriers. John was awarded Sailor of the Year-Pacific region and Sailor of the Year-Atlantic region. John was the co-creator, owner of Coaches Sports Bar & Grill, Jersey Village, Texas, before he sold it in 2007. Other prior positions were Director of Operations and Administrative Support with Metropolitan Transit Authority. Mr. Lutkus retired from his position as Regional Director for Continental Airlines with prior service in Houston, Detroit, Los Angeles, and Honolulu markets. Mr. Lutkus was an active member at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, Spring, Texas. John will be interned at Houston National Cemetery. The Memorial service will be held at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, Spring, Texas, on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 4 p.m. with a reception to follow courtesy of the women of St. Timothy's. Services will be directed by Father Stan Gerber, Rector. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Texas Patriot Group Riders (http://www.setexaspgr.org), St. Timothy's Anglican Church (www.sttimothysanglican.org), Honor Flight (www.honorflight.org), or another charity of your choosing.
