This memorial is dedicated in loving memory of my husband and friend, John Paul Wharry II. Paul was a caring, sensitive, open & honest person (sometimes too honest). Being easy to talk to was one of the qualities that made people gravitate toward him and he had a deep wonderful voice. It was important for him to stay in touch with family & friends & would help them if they needed it. Even from a young age, Paul was headstrong, sometimes to a fault & kept his mother on her toes & even as an adult didn't easily take "no" for an answer. At age 57, Paul left us too soon on November 15, 2015 from complications of cancer. He bravely faced the pain that came with it and still kept his sense of humor. John Paul was born in Spokane,WA on July 20,1958 to Michael H. Emmick & Rhoda E. Emmick & was later given his maternal grandfather's name. He attended Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL and the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He worked a short time for GTE and later secured a job with the Chrysler Corp. where he gave 30 years of dedicated service. He was an Alabama football fan and enjoyed fishing & Nascar races. Paul would fondly speak of his canine companions, travels, his time in Alaska & the good times & mischief he experienced with his friends when he was younger. Paul leaves behind his wife & friend of 17 years,Michele; his loving mother, Rhoda E. Wharry-Garrett; a sister, Jamie, a brother, Michael and many other caring family members & friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Paul Wharry; his grandmother, Louise Bransford-Wharry and father, Michael H. Emmick. Paul, your strong voice and presence are deeply missed. We hope & pray to be reunited with you someday in the beautiful place you must be. "He was comforted by one of the simpler emotions which some human beings are lucky enough to experience. He knew when he died, he would be watched by someone he loved." -Noel Annan There will be an intimate family memorial. Donations can be made in Paul's honor to the American Cancer Society or Toledo Area Humane Society
