Kathleen Norman Paul, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at her home in Bellaire, TX on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024.
Kathleen was born in Glendale, California on April 22, 1961, the youngest child of Charles A. and Bettye V. Norman, who both preceded her in death. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 28 years, William S. Paul, and their daughter Caroline Jayne Renee Paul. Kathleen is also survived by siblings James W. Norman and wife Laura, M. Annelle Norman, Mark A. Norman, and Connie J. Stuckey and husband Matt.
As Chuck and Bettye’s youngest, Kathi specialized in riding in the back row of the family’s Ford station wagon as they travelled across the country. To say she grew up everywhere is a bit of an understatement - her family lived in Glendale, Los Angeles, Shreveport, Jackson, Houston, Corpus Christi, Boston, Denver, Castle Rock, and finally back to Houston where she graduated from Humble High School in 1979.
She then graduated from Baylor University in 1983 and began a career in the energy industry in Houston. In 1992, she met the love of her life, William, while working together. William and Kathleen married in May of 1996 and were blessed with the birth of their only child and greatest joy, Caroline, in November of 2000.
Kathleen was a woman of deep faith and an abundantly generous heart. As such, she maintained a thriving second career as a consummate volunteer. She was a long-time member of First Methodist Conroe where she served on the building committee and was active in the “Alpha” and youth programs. Kathleen enthusiastically volunteered at Veritas Christian Academy, Houston Christian High School, with National Charity League, and in countless other endeavors. Kathleen chose daily to reflect the Lord’s love through her actions. Her passion for volunteer work was a natural outpouring of this selfless spirit.
Raised in a family that travelled extensively, Kathleen chose to make travel a pillar of her own family. She delighted in a spontaneous road trip and especially enjoyed visiting national parks with family. Kathi also had quite the sweet tooth and loved to bake. Her signature pound cake and chocolate pie remain family favorites. She had a special ability to turn an average weekday into a celebration worth remembering because of her attention to detail and authentic love for those around her.
All the joy, fellowship, and love she brought to others was a reflection of the joy she found in her relationship with Jesus. Though Kathi was known as the best gift giver you’ll ever meet, the greatest gift she leaves with us is her unending ability to love people boldly and wholeheartedly.
A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Conroe (4308 W. Davis St, Conroe, TX 77304) on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at 11am. In celebration of Kathleen’s most bright and joyful life, we encourage you to wear bright and joyful colors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Veritas Christian Academy, 7000 Ferris St, Bellaire, TX 77401.
While saddened beyond measure at her passing, the family takes comfort in Kathleen’s “mantra”: Choose JOY!
