On May 13, 2016, surrounded by those who loved her, Kay Frances Pitner Kidd peacefully went to be with the Lord. Kay was born in Henderson, Texas to Roy and Sybil Pitner on March, 8th 1947. She was raised in Houston where she graduated from Milby High School and then went on to attend Kilgore College. Kay was the proud mother of three boys and they made Houston their home. Early in her life she worked for Hughes Tools for several years. She then chose to stay home and raise her boys. After she accomplished the task of getting the young men on their road, she embarked on a new road for herself. Kay had the courage and drive to become a Harris County Deputy Sheriff, which for a woman to succeed in that endeavor is a rare feat. Her amazing career culminated in 2013 when she retired after a 22 year career with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. Kay had a genuine passion for art. She enjoyed painting, working with stained glass and various other arts and crafts. She enjoyed conversations about politics and topics that she said "used your brain". The thing she loved most of all was her seven grandchildren. She consistently hosted sleepovers with them, doing arts and crafts with the girls and watching her grandsons play in the pool. One of her happiest times of late, was taking care of grandbaby Katie in the final year of her life. Her love for people and captivating laugh will be missed by all. Kay is survived by her sons Brad, Nicholas and his wife Pam, Justin and his wife Allison and her grandchildren Haley, Jordan, Jackson, Meredith, Callie, Nathan and Katie. Funeral services for Kay will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505 on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 12:00PM.
