Linda Ruppelt

December 11, 1946 — February 7, 2017

Linda Lea Ruppelt (Christman), 70, died on February 7, 2017 at her home in Richmond, Texas after a 17 month long courageous battle with cancer of the pancreas. She was born to the late Jack Christman and Virginia Wagner Christman on December 11, 1946 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Linda attended Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and graduated in June of 1965. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in social work. Linda was married to Alan Ruppelt on November 11, 1967 at the United Church of Christ in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Linda was a very kind and caring person and was deeply devoted to her family. She was given the special opportunity to provide daycare to four of her grandchildren, Jack Ruppelt, Chloe Ruppelt, Lukas Metzen and Lily Metzen. She developed a special bond with these grandchildren and loved them very much. Linda enjoyed cooking, travel, gardening, school volunteer work, church daycare, tennis, walking and many outdoor activities. She called herself a tomboy at heart. She especially loved spending time with her family, friends and miniature dachshund, Buster, at a cozy cottage on a small lake in Wisconsin. Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alan, a daughter Sara (Dan Metzen), a son Mark, a sister Corlis (Richard) McKitrick, seven grandchildren and three nieces. A sister, Stephanie Christman Halloran, preceded her in death. Linda and Alan did 15 moves together and Linda was the project manager for all of them. In the process, Linda lived in Milwaukee, WI, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Whitefish Bay, WI, Janesville, WI, Minneapolis, MN, San Antonio, TX, Boerne, TX, Houston, TX and Richmond, TX. With her positive personality, Linda was able to quickly adjust and make friends in all the places she lived. Linda requested no formal funeral services. Out of respect for her excellent medical team, she suggested that any memorial donations be made payable to the Baylor College of Medicine and mailed to The Elkins Pancreas Center, c/o Baylor College Office of Philanthropy, MSC #800, P.O. Box 4976, Houston, TX 77210. Secure online gifts can be made by credit card at www.bcm.edu/giving.
