Madeline Lee Lilienthal of TX died September 24, 2018 at the age of 86. Born October 3rd, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. Madeline was the only child of Harry and Dorothy Lee.
A graduate of NYU with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Madeline also received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from North Adams State College, MA. She became a Reading Specialist and taught English as a Second Language.
A much loved teacher for thirty-two years, her students came from around the world with more than forty different first languages and ranged in age from three to sixty-seven.
Madeline was employed in the Pittsfield, MA Public School System and then in Spring Branch ISD in Houston, TX. After retiring, she continued to tutor foreign-born children and adults.
With a passion for writing, Madeline authored the children's books SEE YOU IN SCHOOL and OUR FAMILY and had a story published in Yankee Magazine called "A MATTER OF CONSCIENCE." Previously, she had written for ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING MAGAZINE and wrote commercials for WBRK Radio Station in Pittsfield, MA and WLIX Radio Station in Islip, NY.
Madeline had been married to Kenneth Lilienthal (deceased) for twenty-one years and is survived by her children Andrea, Peter, Raymond, Luke and Mary and grandsons Donald, Troy, Paul and Joshua. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Ashley.
At Madeline's request, there will be no memorial service. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
