Margaret Cooper

Margaret Beth (Wooden) Cooper, born 26 February 1937, went to be with her Lord and Savior 20 October 2016. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandmom, a natural leader and public speaker, with a life filled with service to others. Beth Cooper served the justice system as the first armed female in history selected to protect the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States (and sometimes the President) where she served as Police Officer/Special Deputy Federal Marshal '75-'83. She also served on several juries, usually as foreman. Her professional service also included: Traveling to many nations as Senior Manager of International Training with the American Heart Association Dallas TX after serving in their Regional Office Baltimore MD; Director of Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training with the National Institutes of Health Bethesda MD; Docent of Moody Mansion Galveston TX; Receptionist with YMCA League City TX. Beth Cooper served as volunteer leader in many civic organizations including: Most recently as Board Member/Secretary/Director of Camp Wild with Galveston Bay Area Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists; Adult leader with: Cub Scouts Clearlake TX, Girl Scouts Bowie MD and Baton Rouge LA, Director of Bowiefests for City of Bowie MD, Director of large Girl Scout Camps in Prince George County MD and Baton Rouge LA. Beth Cooper's fine arts included: Music Coach and Contralto with regional champion Sweet Adelines chorus and lead with their quartet Elkridge MD; Contralto with Sweet Adelines choruses and lead with their quartet Bowie MD and Baton Rouge LA; Actress with Burn Brae Dinner Theatre Burtonsville MD . Her education included: Graduate of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Glynco GA, Completed 2 ½ years of Prince Georges Community College MD, Graduate of Milby High '55 Houston TX. She enjoyed: her many pets, Wildlife Rehab, sailing, hang gliding, sky diving, scuba diving, and traveling and living with her family during her husband's engineering assignments of the United Nations in Israel and of the United States government in Spain and in 26 towns in 9 of the United States: AZ, KS, LA, MD, MS, OR, TX, VA, WA . From birth to marriage in ‘56, she was with her late parents, Marion and Maude (Clopton) Wooden and with Magnolia Christian Church Houston TX. Beth Cooper is survived by husband Norman Lee Cooper; daughter Dawn, her husband Robin Tarpley and their sons Tanner and Reid and Tanner's wife Anna; daughter Holly Cooper, her husband Denton Wood and their son Dylan; daughter Heather, her husband Rob Callaway and their sons Ryan and Sean; and Beth's brother Don Wooden and his daughters Terry and Brenda, Brenda's sons Ian and Erin and Don's son Doug and Doug's wife and her children. Beth Cooper is greatly missed by family, friends, and associates across this nation and around the world.
