Marjorie LaFitte Fisher 1933 - 2017 Marjorie LaFitte Fisher's life was defined by her love for her Heavenly Father and His children. Her genuine persona, positive outlook, and concern for others endeared her to all who crossed her path. Her impact ranged from family members to coworkers at a major corporation to support staff at her skilled nursing facility and beyond. Marj was beloved by her friends and relatives, and treasured by her husband Bob. Evidence of Bob's enduring love for Marj is revealed by the extensive collection of greeting cards he sent her that she saved over their 45-year marriage. Described by her friends as gracious, caring, and appreciative, Marj was generous with both her time and financial resources. Marj, an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church until prevented by illness, was a faithful front desk volunteer. A long-time member of the Tuesday Afternoon Circle, she served as circle leader for several years. Marj went home to God on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2017. She was born Marjorie Gay LaFitte in Shelbyville, Texas, on June 5, 1933, to Sam LaFitte, Sr. and Ola Davis LaFitte. After graduating from Shelbyville High School in 1949, where she was a cheerleader, she attended Draughon Business College in Shreveport, Louisiana. While employed at Home Federal Savings and Loan in Shreveport Marj met and married Robert P. Fisher. After relocating to Houston, she was a long-time employee of Panhandle Trunkline Gas Co., where she retired in 1988. At her job, Marj continually encouraged her colleagues. Her faith in their ability to succeed gave them the confidence to believe in themselves. That confidence transformed into fierce loyalty to Marj long after her retirement nearly thirty years ago. Marj was preceded in death by her parents and husband as well as her brothers Foch LaFitte, Rexta LaFitte, and Sam LaFitte, Jr.; sisters Erdelle LaFitte Duncan and Lurline LaFitte; niece Rhonda Cox; and stepson Gene Fisher. She is survived by her brother Harold LaFitte of Austin; sisters-in-law Dorothy LaFitte of El Paso and Gwen LaFitte of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews Beverly Bohannon of Shelbyville, Rex Duncan of Macon, Georgia, Sammy Duncan of Shreveport, Louisiana, Bryan LaFitte of Houston, Foch LaFitte, Jr. of Midland, John LaFitte of El Paso, Rex LaFitte of Austin, Michelle McDuffy of El Paso, and LaDonna Moore of Dallas; stepson Robert C.
