Marjorie (Midge) Holmes, 79, a longtime resident of Ludington, MI and most recently residing in Houston, TX, died Thursday, June 20, 2019 at MD Anderson Cancer Center where she valiantly fought a ten month battle against leukemia.
Midge was born August 14, 1939 in Ludington, MI where she graduated in Ludington High School's class of 1957. She was married in 1958 to her high school sweetheart, Tom Holmes. They had three children, Karin Marie, Kelly Lynn and Kevin Thomas.
Midge worked in various bookkeeping and secretarial positions during her lifetime. She loved to read, knit, play bridge, watch baseball and play the piano. A highlight of her life was playing piano for the high school choir. She enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers until she moved to Houston where she was fast becoming an Astros Fan.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Tom, her parents Robert and Edith Matson, in-laws Harold and Doris Holmes, her brother Robert C. (Bud) Matson, her sister Linda Branyan Christensen and brother-in-law Ralph Branyan.
She is survived by her children Karin (Debra) Holmes, Kelly Rivera and Kevin Holmes, her sister Barbara (Jim ) Husted, sister-in-law Cathy Matson, brother-in-law Doug Christensen, grandchildren Adam and Christopher Rivera, 5 grand pets and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Midge was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ludington, MI. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars.
