Mary M. Reynolds Obituary Mary M. Reynolds, age 90, of Katy, Texas entered into heaven on January 25, 2017. She was one of eight loving children of Stanley and Adele Wirth, born in 1926 in Gary, Indiana. She is predeceased by siblings, John Louis Wirth, Stanley L. Wirth, Dolores Wirth, Lewis Wirth and Dennis Lane Wirth. Her one remaining brother Richard Wirth lives in Ohio. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend who will be missed by many. She married Wallace John Reynolds, a U.S. Navy Pilot, on April 8, 1948 in San Diego, California. The mother of eight children, Mary is survived by her son Mark Reynolds and wife Makiko of Escondido, CA; Adele Justis and husband Richard of Katy TX; Marilyn Gottfredson and husband Kent of Horseshoe Bay, TX; Linda Reynolds of Katy, TX; Margaret D'Avanzo and husband Martin of New Fairfield, CT; and Jean Poirier and husband Jim of Modena, NY. She was predeceased by Wallace Reynolds, and daughters Carol Reynolds and Nancy Reynolds McIlhenny (Katy, Texas.) She was a devoted mother to her large family, and to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in White Plains, NY. Even with her large family, she found time to volunteer for numerous activities for her church and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. She had a soft spot in her heart for the elderly, and loved volunteering at Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, telling her children that "sometimes people just need you to hold their hand, or give them a hug." Her positive attitude, infectious smile and bright hellos warmed so many who knew her. She retired to Texas in 1984, settling in Katy, near many of her children. She loved teaching catechism classes for many years, volunteering at various nursing homes leading the recitation of the Rosary. She assisted with weekly masses at Catholic Hospital, and remained very devoted to God, church, and her large family. The true lights of her life were her sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren: William, Matthew, Victoria, Michael, Patrick, Joseph, Chris, Jason, Sue Ellen, Jennifer, Tabitha, Haley, Olivia, Samantha, Christina, Jimmy, and great grandchildren Rylee, Kynlee, Justin, John, and Shawn. A Funeral mass will be held at Saint Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church on March 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Katy, Texas. A private inurnment will be held at the Katy Cemetery at a later date. An Honorarium donation may be made in Mary's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org.
