Melinda Mayton

June 13, 1974 — March 18, 2017

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our sister, mother, and friend, Melinda "Marie" Mayton. On March 25, 2017. we will come together to mourn her passing, and to reminisce about how deeply she touched all our lives. Marie was born on June 13, 1974 in Houston, Texas to Johnnie Ray and Sylvia (Thompson) Dixon. She grew up in Houston, Texas, where she graduated from South Houston High School. She is survived by her twin sister Belinda "Nicole" Johnson, her brother Jody Allen Blaylock, and by her boys: Dylan and Dalton Mayton, and her stepson Derek Mayton, all of whom she loved very much, as they were the light of her life. She is also survived by countless family members, friends, and loved ones. Marie was preceded in death by her Father Johnnie Ray Dixon, her Mother Sylvia (Thompson) Blaylock, her Grandmother Lou Thompson, her Stepfather Barry Blaylock, her Sister Stacy (Dixon) Funk, and her sister-in-law Brenda Blaylock. In her younger days, before her illness, Marie was a down-home girly girl with a heart of gold, whose crystal blue eyes sparkled when she laughed, portraying a dazzling smile. Marie also had a funny sense of humor, was incredibly kind, and could find the good in everything. In addition, she loved everyone she knew deeply, , and she was always quick to forgive. She also loved to sing, and when she worshipped, her hymns had the ability to somehow help transform whomever was around her into the presence of the Lord. She will be missed by all. A Funeral Service for Marie will be held in her memory on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 12:00 noon, with viewing one hour prior to the service, at Victory United Pentecostal Church, 721 E, Main St. in La Porte, Texas, with Pastor Jackie King officiating.
