Sergeant First Class Michael Florian Keen, 78, of Stagecoach, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2025. Mike was survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Jan, his son Michael (Shari), his daughter Michelle, his daughter Stephanie (Chris), his son Chris (Ashley), his daughter Nikki (Glenn), eight grandchildren (Lane, Shelby, Arianna, Noah, Abby, Hazel, Laura and Alex), nieces, and nephews, and a bonus granddaughter (Cheyenne Hagan). He is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis (Warren), his father Florian, his sister Sharen (DeVore), his sister Tannis (Jennings).
Although he was born in Raymond Washington on May 21, 1946, Mike and his family settled in Muscatine, Iowa, where he spent his childhood and later graduated high school (Class of 1964). He was an avid tennis player, having been a member of the varsity team.
Mike was a decorated veteran, having proudly served 21 years in the United States Army. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, and received many distinguished commendations, including the Legion of Merit, and the Royal Thai Master Parachutist Award. He spent most of his military career overseas as a corrections NCO, military police, and criminal investigator.
Mike was cherished by all who knew him. His sense of humor was unsurpassed; His laugh was infectious, and he was the “king of dad jokes”. His passions included building motors, riding his Harley, going to the movies, and spending time with his family.
SFC Keen will be laid to rest on February 28, 2025 at 2:30pm CST at the Houston National Cemetery, where he will be revered with a military honors service.
