Ace Layton was born in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1929, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force directly out of Arlington Heights High School, where he met his future wife, Peggy Sue Shelton. He earned the reputation of being one of America's top aeronautics structural design engineers. Iconic aircraft projects he helped design include, General Dynamics F-111, Lockheed C5 Galaxy, Boeing 747, and Northrup B-2 Stealth Bomber. He passed peacefully of natural causes at his son's home in Houston, at age 87. He'll be greatly missed, but warmly remembered for his quick wit, beaming smile, and love of adventure, travel and music.
