Peter Milton Ryther, 64, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, in Houston, Texas, after a valiant battle with early onset Alzheimer's. Pete was born in Auburn, New York to Gene and Helen Ryther. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Pete began his rewarding career in the IT industry, starting with Digital in Atlanta. He joined Compaq as Product Manager for Latin America, living in Miami prior to moving to Houston. The pinnacle of Pete's career was his sale of the first e-ticketing system to the airline industry. Pete was admired for his love of life, his compassion for others, and for his courage. He was blessed to have enjoyed many friendships throughout the years from Lake Lanier's T Dock to LOEN's Wine Club. An avid sailor, he loved the water, the wind, and the sun. Pete is survived by his beloved wife of thirteen years, Katherine Garvin Ryther and his sister Liz (Steve) Thomson of Jersey City, New Jersey. Pete is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family would also like to acknowledge Schonda "Cookie" Altius who with her kind heart and gentle spirit cared for Pete as well as Mr. and Mrs. Garvin in their later years.
