Phocion breathed his last on July 19 immediately after the recitation of the Divine
Mercy Chaplet. He was married to Cheryl Seethaler for almost 40 years. He was a
loving father to adopted sons: Louis and Phocion III (3 weeks apart in age), who he
called "God's version of twins".
Phocion was born on October 7, 1944 to Phocion S. Park Sr. and Frances
Jeanne Schneider. While attending the University of St. Thomas, he entered
the Novitiate of the Basilian Fathers and earned a Masters in Divinity. Then he
chose a different path to serve God as a Psychotherapist for a number of years in
Ontario,Canada and Houston, Tx. He also earned a Masters in History while still
in the order.
He was active in the Knights of Columbus achieving the 4th Degree just in time to
to honor guard Pope John Paul II when he came to San Antonio in 1987. He was
involved in the Charismatic Renewal for many years. At the Charismatic Center in
Houston, he served in various ministries: Marriage Prep, Extraordinary Minister
of Holy Communion, Healing Prayer, Lectoring, Pro-Life, and Fishers of Men.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, sons Louis (Heather), Phocion III, Granddaughter, Asya,
Sister, Sally (Joe) Peddy, Brother, Peter (Blanca) Park, Sister, Jeanne Park, and 5 nephews
and their children.
