Phyllis C. Klafehn

(January 7, 1930- November 19, 2021)

Phyllis C. Klafehn, 91, of Canonsburg, PA, died peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021, in Bellaire, Texas. She was born January 7, 1930, in Jamestown, NY to Ragnar and Alma Carlson, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948. She attended Millard Fillmore Hospital Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse in 1951. She worked in Buffalo, NY, for several years at the Foundry before moving to Brockport, NY. She became the school nurse at Ginther Elementary School, where she worked for over 20 years. Her kind and loving nature was used every day taking care of the young children.

Her other primary job was caring for and raising her two daughters, Mary (Jim) Covell and Lynn (Rick) Miller, who loved and cherished her over her lifetime. She was also a loving Grammy and a steadfast guide to her four grandchildren, Danny, Cameron, Kirsten and Jacob. The family is blessed to have had so many wonderful and memorable years with her.

Phyllis moved to Canonsburg, PA, in 1989 to be near her sister, Jan. The “Bobbsey Twins” enjoyed many adventures during the time that they had together. Phyllis lived in the Heathrow community for 30 years, was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, PA, and a “sister” in the P.E.O. Chapter BH, Upper St. Clair, PA. Phyllis cherished the many caring friends that she made during her 30 years in Canonsburg and during her earlier years in Jamestown and Brockport.

The support of her family and friends throughout her illness was unwavering and lovingly-felt, including her brother, Dick, nieces Becky and Chris, and nephews, Steve, Rick and Chip. Their comfort and support was immeasurably felt by Phyllis and family. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis can be made to her church or a charity of one’s choice.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25-26
