Our precious mother, Rachel Mojica Carrisalez, age 83, passed away in her home October 25, 2020 after losing her battle to coronavirus. Rachel was born October 24, 1937 in Houston, Texas to Reyes and Maria Guadalupe Mojica. After meeting her soulmate on a blind date at the age of 15, she married Gasper A. Carrisalez, on December 2, 1956. Together, they enjoyed a long and loving marriage for 64 years!
Her life's passion was to be a nurse and she fulfilled that passion for several decades working at St. Josesph's Hospital and several private doctor's offices throughout her career as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. It suited her servant heart and she enjoyed her time in the medical field.
Her life was a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents Reyes Sr. and Maria Mojica, her brothers Reyes Mojica, Jr. and Ruben Mojica, her sister Rita Villareal, and her great-grandson, Colin Patrick Anderson.
Rachel is survived by her husband Gasper Carrisalez, son Gilbert Carrisalez and wife Ellie, daughter Melissa Perez and husband Eddie; grandchildren Gilbert Carrisalez, Jr., Michelle Anderson and husband Jacob, Gregory Carrisalez, Hailey Collins and Eduardo Perez; plus great-grandchildren Landon and Gilianna Carrisalez, Connor and Carter Anderson, Cayson and Conner Collins. Rachel is also survived by her sisters Rosie Almanza, Rebecca Chilcutt, Ruth Kristoff and brother Roy Mojica.
